He is, however, excellent at his work, and prefers the quiet, anyways. All one needs is a good book to relax, after all.

Occasionally when he wakes, he finds this substance splattered across the walls around him, though it dissipates in a matter of seconds. He's not sure where the black matter comes from or what it truly is, but his quest to learn has brought him to read a great deal more than others.
