[break][break] Rei has a slovenly, yet charming demeanor. From his disheveled, gray hair to his barely laced boots, Rei seems to be on his own wavelength especially when it comes to fashion. He always seems to be tired as evidenced by the bags under his eyes, but never entirely out of energy. He tends to roll his dark eyes slowly to the ceiling when talking especially when deep in thought.

[break][break]Rei is oddly charismatic despite his disheveled appearance. Much like his lover, Amy Faye, he is keenly socially aware, but only if he when he is concentrating on it. Indeed, people know him more notably for his aloof charm. It can sometimes feel like talking to someone on an entirely different wavelength when talking to him. At its worst, frustratingly so. However, his genuine kindness and his emotional and mental intelligence make this characteristic forgivable in the eyes of most. He is dependable and always will protect those close to him no matter the cost. [break][break]
Rei is a bit of a self-reflective pessimist. He tends to blame himself for many of his failures and with the onset of his psychosis, this effect is only amplified. He doesn't often show his dark side, but he is plagued with thoughts of homicide and suicide frequently. He also can sometimes have trouble communicating his feelings and often goes rogue when he feels he is placed with a burden that "no one else can help with."

[break][break]The Nyx family was well known for it's efficient use of berries in herbs to create concoctions for the sick and 'those with broken minds.' Herbal remedies from the Nyx family are commonly used in Lunarisclan for serious illnesses of the body and the mind and are usually quite strong as a result. [break][break]
His mother, however, was a great warrior of Lunarisclan now retired due to a grevious wound. She taught Rei how to use a sword in his youth, a skill that he has practiced as a hobby for years. [break][break]
The Nyx and Winters family have known each other as professional associates for years, but Rei and Elizabeth Winters were the first to become coworkers. Together, they decided to share a research space where they would often collaborate to test and innovate new tools and remedies for the clan, often with little success. However, as they grew up, their techniques and knowledge improved. The twowere looking to be able to inherit their rightful places as heirs to the Nyx and Winters name. [break][break]
Yet, Rei became increasingly distracted from his work by someone he had fallen in love wifh, Amy Faye. Though from Solarisclan, Amy quickly became attached to Rei as their similarities seemed nearly limitless. The two were so close in fact that they could often complete each others’ thoughts. [break][break]
It was not long before a noticable illness took ahold of Amy however. It wasn’t anything like Rei had seen before in all of the patients he had met with. She seemed serene as if her condition was causing her euphoria. But she was clearly very sick. She wouldn’t admit it to him, but he could tell. Her skin was becoming pale. She grew bags under her eyes (not that he was one to talk). Her speech ever so slightly shakier. Only he seemed to be able to tell; not even her family seemed to notice her destabilized condition. And the things she’d confide in him became increasingly grotesque. [break][break]
Concerned, Rei took to long nights alone mixing new and novel herbal combinations. He tested them on rats. For weeks, he searched for the cure to a disease he could not even know the symptoms of. [Break]
But he was out of time. Amy had killed in cold blood and he had to come up with something quickly lest she kill more. Finally, he came up with a promising concoction, and just in time. He sat at his desk, staring at the mortar and pestle filled with the grey powder he had made. There was no lethal dose on the rats, but in a human...the case might have been different. He had no choice. He had to try it himself. [break][break]
He poured the mixture into a cup of water and stared at it. It smelt putrid. 'Bottoms up,' he muttered, chugging the water as quickly as possible. Within the minute, his arm holding the cup was engulf in darkness. The Shadow spread like a wildfire, consuming his hand and moving up his body. Rei let out a blood curling scream, clutching his arm and falling out of his chair. He banged his arm against the ground again and again, but as much as he tried, he could not escape the Shadow eating away at him. The walls became darn and oozed as the disease spread to his legs. He couldn't move as the beasts gathered around him, looking down at him on the floor. And soon, they took his eyes, too. [break][break]
And He Woke Up.
