A rare early morning. Takuto was awake and at work, and for all anyone knew he had been that way well for two days. He had been cooped up in his tent making goddess-only-knows kind of inventions, and after finally finishing them, he had come to Pikiate to test them. The warrior's training site, and his very own testing grounds whenever it wasn't occupied. No one had agreed on helping him execute the first rounds of experimentation, but then again, Takuto hadn't asked anyone to assist him. He wasn't about to wake up his trainee, either, for the sake of Hatsu needing rest. She would help him for hours at a time anyways, but that would give for everyone. Everyone except him.
Hauling equipment off a carrier he himself had made, Takuto quickly assembled anything that had to be dissected into pieces upon transferring. He sighed; his mind was there, focus and all, though his body told him that food was required to go on, and he didn't want to lift anymore equipment. That was what he got for being a Crafter, not a well-fit warrior. He wasn't about to complain about it, since there was work to do. There was always work to do. He slept too much and too long for him not to have full attention on his work while he was awake.
Finally assembling everything together- which wasn't as much as he thought it originally was- he stood looking at his inventions, taking a breath. None of what laid out there was requested, and he was able to think up anything he liked for the occasion. "This is it." He gulped, preparing to fire everything up and see how he could get everything to work, and work correctly.
The rosette did not stray from the camp so early often, as she was frightened there would be nobody to help her did she get into any trouble. But nevertheless, here she was, searching for chamomile at sunrise, while attaining quite the headache. It seemed like she had been trudging around for hours, the irritating chirp of birds not helping the growing pain in her temples. She made a mental note to collect ginger later, the scent always eased her tension. Suddenly, as she pinched the bridge of her nose, a series of clicks and knocks started her into reality again, and she snapped her head up towards the noise. It sounded to be coming from towards Pikiate. Ahah, now she knew who it was. Takuto was putting together one of his little contraptions. She couldn't think of anyone else who would be willing to trip down the damn ditch in the small hours of the morning all for the sake of the clan.
She opened her bag, and glanced inside. A few of gooseberries, an apple, and a canteen of water. Knowing the crafter, he likely still hadn't eaten yet. He liked to keep up his shtick of being a big, strong, capable man who could survive without necessities, but she wasn't buying it. Not today. She huffed and began her short walk over to the training area.
When the mender arrived, she half walked, half slid down the steep slope and chucked a gooseberry at the back of Takuto's head when she reached the bottom. It was hardly a stealthy entrance, but stealth wasn't really her forté anyways.
Too caught up in his own work, Takuto didn't notice the rosette follow him down to his testing site, and the gooseberry thrown at him didn't help, either. Though what did caught his attention was the voice. He knew that voice well enough, but to who did the voice mention?
"Kisama?" Takuto grumbled, stretching and turning to face Mainia. "Morning, but uh, what do you mean by that?" His tired eyes scanned her then the ground, stopping when he an inference of similar gooseberries came to life. Rolling his eyes, he knew right away that she had thrown it at him to get his attention. Not that it did, but what difference did it make?
"You're just in time; would you like to see what I've made in a little under a day, with no improvements? Most likely these prototypes will need some touch-ups, but it shouldn't go that wrong." He coughed, wiping his face. He was sweaty from all the work he put into the inventions, and the heat of Solarisclan didn't particularly help out his situation. Looking over his shoulder at what he was about to test, he ran a hand through his greasy hair, taking note of that fact. Not like he was going to do anything about it. Dirty, nasty, there was still work needing to be finished and done, and he was about to do just such. Whenever he was awake, to just do his thing. That's what he planned on- though, Mainia's company was always welcome, especially when he was unveiling his newest line of work.
"I mean I'm insulting you," she nodded curtly. "-because I like to think of myself as hilarious and of my name calling as justified. And while I'm at it, I'll throw in another." A pause. When he turned, she took note of his rather unhygienic appearance and scrunched up her nose. "How does 'filthy corporeal' sound to you?" She fished through her bag and brought out the apple, and tossed it to him. "Now, eat. You look like you're going to keel over from malnutrition."
Maina tucked her hair behind her ear and looked up at the innovation with interest. "So, what does it do, pray tell?"
It was bright and early when Hatsu woke up that morning. She yawned and stretched, staring at the sun up ahead as she exited her tent. Her eyes stared at the sun and realized it was past mid-day, she'd overslept. Takuto was awake for once! She couldn't waste a precious moment!
She bolted for plantless ditch near camp, making sure to grab a small container of water. Knowing Takuto, he rarely ever gave into his thirst. Hatsu questioned if he even felt the need for water sometimes. Takuto generally kept his creations there for whatever reason, or at least that was his working area. She wondered why he never worked in his own tent back in camp but never questioned it.
At his sight, Hatsu picked up speed passing Maina without even noticing her there. Her hand instinctively slapped his shoulder in a playful manner, sending a few jolts of electricity. "Mooorning!" She lifted an eyebrow, "Well, more afternoon? I overslept so... Yeah."
Her eyes quickly scanned the creations while she handed over the container of water. "Here. You probably haven't had anything yet, if so you could just leave it wherever."
She stared the creations, "These are for the festival right? OH!" She squealed excitedly, "Is this the one that shoots arrows but with the abilities?" Hatsu suddenly remembered the previous night, "Is this the new version of the one that exploded last night?" Hatsu crouched and looked at it, it was certainly an improvement from yesterday.
"Is this one gonna blow up too?" The apprentice still hadn't taken notice of his company until that moment when she turned around at the feel of another presence.
"Oh." She stared at Maina for a few moments, "Sorry, I didn't see you there."

"'Filthy Corporeal', you say? Someone has to take the job. If I'm the only person who'll step up to take such a place, so be it." Takuto rolled his eyes. In doing so, he barely looked out for the apple flying towards him, and caught it without balance, falling onto the dirt beneath him. Uncaring, he took a bite of the apple anyways and stood back up, munching down at the treat of some sort of breakfast Mainia had brought him. "Thanks." Was mumbled through his eating, though still heard.
Before Takuto had gotten a chance to respond to Mainia, he saw his energenic apprentice flying down the slope and into the ditch he and the Mender stood in. No time to react, a shock to his shoulder. 'Bear with it...'
An offering of food first, then a drink? Was today his lucky day or something? Didn't happen to often, which was why he skipped so many meals and learned to suppress hunger for so long. One hand of his held an apple, the other holding a container of water, which he brought to his mouth for a while, standing there and consuming the necessary food and water for anyone's survival. At least the feeling that he was going to pass out sometime would disappear now that something was in his stomach.
So focused on his gifts, Takuto forgot to listen in to what Hatsu was saying. Then again, that was normal. "Yeah, yeah, the arrows. It should work. Use your electricity on it when I tell you to, alright? I'll add some fire with the other one, though it won't be ability-made fire. Maware isn't around like last time we tried this thing out." He stated, adding the warning, "Don't get ahead of yourself and spark it early though."
Maina waved a hand in laxity at his thanks. "Enjoy. Though, I should think that you..." The mender trailed off, swearing she could feel the headache that had been ebbing away returning once again. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end, and she let out a small yelp of surprise as a girl with plum colored hair skidded right past her to stand next to the head crafter. Barely catching herself from an embarrassing fall, she took a step back to observe, still tensed.
Oh, for the love of- it was Takuto's trainee, Hatsuya. The rosette had seen her around camp and the territory a lot, but had never really spoken to her besides the occasional greeting or small talk. It was for anybody hard not to know who the electrokinetic was, in fact, given how many places she could seem to be at once. Or maybe that was just the alcohol thinking for her.
Gaping was a reaction that Maina did not use. Sato Maina did not gape at anything. But as today seemed to be one of those days where the once impossible was possible again, there she stood, mouth hanging open, staring in a baffled manner at a babbling trainee and a less-excited-than-usual Takuto. And Goddess's sake, Hatsuya hadn't even acknowledged her until she had finished talking, which, might she add, took of a good few minutes! Irritation rising, she patted down her staticy pink hair and spoke when it was clear the eyes were on her.
She lifted her hand to pinch the bridge of her nose once again. "Good morning, Hatsuya-chan... You're rather chipper this morning... as always." She then cleared her throat, still rather peeved about the sudden interruption. "Well, this invention of yours sounds... smashing while hearing about it, but I wouldn't mind a demonstration. I'm eager to see the product of your efforts."
"I wasn't going to..." She muttered, "Besides, there's obviously a flaw if it explodes from a few thousand jolts of electricity..." Hatsu turned her attention towards the girl standing there. Her long colorful hair was quite distracting to be honest.
Hatsu's eyes analyzed the girl from head to toe, not judging but trying to remember who she was. The Trainee had seen her before but since she wasn't interested in knowing who she was, she never bothered remembering her name.
"When am I ever not... 'chipper'?" She tried immitating Maina's voice while throwing a look at Takuto that clearly asked 'right?' with a lifted eyebrow.
"Uh... You're uh... " Hatsu trailed and tried to play it off, "Ma- something right? Mai- something?" She really couldn't remember the girl's name, considering Maina knew Hatsu's, it made the situation even worse.
She sent a look towards Takuto which had guilty spelled all over it. "Just because I remember everything crafting related doesn't mean I remember people's names okay? I'm not proud of it." She quickly defended herself and directed her attention towards Takuto's creations.
"It's not done yet apparently. Hopefully it doesn't explode from a few thousand jolts of electricity again... Then you'd have to make it all over again." She stared back at her Sensei, "I apologized already so don't give me a look okay?" She could practically feel the negative energy waving off of him, or maybe it was the heat.
NOTES: STILL GOT NUTHIN
[newclass=.pic:hover]-webkit-filter: grayscale(20%);-moz-filter: grayscale(20%);-ms-filter: grayscale(20%);-o-filter: grayscale(20%);filter: grayscale(20%);-webkit-transition: all 0.7s ease;-moz-transition: all 0.7s ease;-o-transition: all 0.7s ease;[/newclass][newclass=.pic]-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);-ms-filter: grayscale(100%);-o-filter: grayscale(100%);filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-transition: all 0.7s ease;-moz-transition: all 0.7s ease; -o-transition: all 0.7s ease;[/newclass]
Upon the look Hatsu threw at Takuto, he shrugged. Chipper, sure. For his annoyance most of the time. He hadn't seen her all too much when she wasn't just with him and working. He didn't get that much free time to check up on her social life.
"It's Mainia." Takuto answered for Hatsu, bringing his hand to his head and rubbing it to prevent any headaches. He didn't feel one coming, but might as well. Ones from Hatsu were always unexpected yet known to appear without warning. He could tell Mainia's mood was off some, and predicted things going the wrong way with the two ladies. Not that anything should, but what could be done with any rising tensions?
He held down another sigh- which he noticed he had been doing quite the bit since he woke up- and made his way to the newest invention of his, going for its second run. He practically dismissed the rest of Hatsu's commentary, though he did listen in and gave quite the look to Hatsu. Takuto wasn't the least bit happy about their last failure.
"Mainia, come on over. It might blow up in our faces, but that's highly unlikely so long as Hatsu here doesn't light the arrows early. Again." Takuto glared over at his apprentice, but only for a short moment before driving his attention fully to the new invention and calling Hatsu to his side to light it. "I'll light a fire at the same time I need you to zap it. We'll do it on a count of three. So no zapping this thing early, Biri Biri. Got that?" He only explained in this much detail because of their previous attempt. He didn't want the same fate of his last invention to happen to this one.
Speaking more to Mainia now, he told her, "I'll let this speak for itself on everything that it is. Judge it after it fires and is a success."
A smile was offered towards the young apprentice it, but it held impatience rather than warmth. She gritted her teeth together, hoping it would provide some kind of distraction from her headache. "Yes, my name is Maina. Thank you for taking the liberty to remember it." She smoothed down her hair once more, praying that it wasn't still sticking out all over the place, and turned away from the younger girl with a nettled sniff.
Unlikely, Takuto had reassured her, but definitely possible. That thought made her huff with growing exasperation as she stepped towards the contraption, drumming her fingers against her thigh as if it would provide her the ability to relax at all. "Well, good thing I'm a medic then, if worse comes to worst."
"More like judge it after it fires and is an explosion." Hatsu mumbled and gave a slight smile to Maina, "Right. Maina, I'll try to remember it. Try."
Hatsu wondered for a moment before standing a few ways away from the contraption. "Can I zap it now? Please?" She asked, a large difference from the unready zap from yesterday. "Can I? What are you waiting for Takuto?" She rambled, the sparks gathering around her fingers intensifying by the minute.
"Oh how many jolts do you want?" She asked, just to be sure. "You know... So you don't blame me if it blows up again." Translation, she didn't want the incident from yesterday happening again, if though it was entertaining.
At Maina's suggestion of healing Hatsu scoffed, "Well if it actually works, we won't be needing your healing abilities." With a quick look to Takuto, hoping he wasn't glaring at her she quickly added, "Not like there was ever a chance for it to not work..."
The electricity in her hand cracked and extended towards the ground beneath her feet. Hatsu always had trouble controlling her ability and considering she was bored and wanted to do something interesting, it was increasing tenfold. "Can I go now?"
NOTES: CAN SHE ZAP IT NOW?!
[newclass=.pic:hover]-webkit-filter: grayscale(20%);-moz-filter: grayscale(20%);-ms-filter: grayscale(20%);-o-filter: grayscale(20%);filter: grayscale(20%);-webkit-transition: all 0.7s ease;-moz-transition: all 0.7s ease;-o-transition: all 0.7s ease;[/newclass][newclass=.pic]-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);-ms-filter: grayscale(100%);-o-filter: grayscale(100%);filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-transition: all 0.7s ease;-moz-transition: all 0.7s ease; -o-transition: all 0.7s ease;[/newclass]
"Then you might be the only one to stand back. Up to you though. I've had my number of accidents in my years of work." Takuto mentioned to Mainia, not moving an inch himself. Besides, he had to light the fire and get his contraption up and running.
"One big zap, but hold back a bit. On the off chance it hits something, or rather, someone, we need it to not be life threatening, alright? Of course, we'll need this to be just that later on: life threatening." He scratched the back of his head with one hand, checking for materials to light a fire in his other. Wait a second. Where was it? The crafting berries easily flammable. Didn't he bring them? Didn't he?
With a sigh, he gave up the search of his pockets. Wasn't on him, and they weren't to be found. "Ladies, this may have to wait. I've made a mistake on my part; I forgot to bring what I was about to light on fire. If we don't use more than one ability for these arrows, there's no use testing them." He grumbled, angry at himself for forgetting such items. Now what could he use? He was a Crafter after all, he should be able to come up with something, right?
Takuto studied his surroundings, but it was all dirt and the invention. He then looked at the two ladies with him, sparking an idea. "Mainia... you wouldn't happen to have any alcohol near you or close by, would you? I'm not calling you an alcoholic." He quickly added the last part. "If you have some, I've got an idea that would be failproof. Unless someone such as Maware walked by us, and I don't see that likely. Unfortunately."
Obliging, she turned on her heel and walked back to stand about a tree's length away, not exactly in the mood to be caught aflame on this early morning. But whether she admitted it or not, she was excited to see this creation as soon as possible. It was hardly a worry that it would ruin the fun of seeing it at the festival for the first time, where the ambiance would be perfect for its unveiling. There was no doubt that any creation of Takuto's would be magnificent, whether for show or for survival. But at the word 'wait', she frowned, the familiar feeling of disappointment pushing her good mood down even further.
What kind of a question was that? Of course she had alcohol on her. With a nod, she slung the bag off of her shoulder and opened a pocket on it's front. The woman drew a silver flask from the pouch and walked forwards, once again, humming in approval of all the walking she had been doing today. Maina held it out to him.
"I know that!" The mender snapped, obviously perturbed at the last comment. "...It's for cleaning wounds. Don't waste too much."
Hatsu thought for a moment, "You've taken pretty high dosages of electricity and you're still alive and kicking aren't you?" She snapped, in a joking manner of course. The number of times she'd electrocuted him were too high for count, in fact, it might have been alarming to most.
"Geez what are you snapping for?" Hatsu lifted a brow, wondering if Maina had mental issues for a moment. "He didn't say you were an alcoholic or anything." Hatsu shrugged and reached the bottle that was obviously presented to Takuto, but she didn't care. The conversation was lasting a little too long for her taste, which was saying a lot. Small words and sentences that barely did anything. She would much rather have some testing happening right now.
She dumped quite a bit on the floor and projected her electricity. It crackled on the alcohol and began burning. After grabbing a large piece of wood and attaching a piece of cloth at the end, Hatsu lit it up and threw the bottle into the air, towards Maina. Hopefully she was a good catch.
The Trainee handed the now burning piece of wood to Takuto, "Here. Can we get started now?" Hatsu was impatient, impulsive and tended to be too close for comfort but something was definitely true, she always got the work done.
Hatsu stretched her fingers apart, watching the electricity run through and around them. "Oh right." The intensity lowered quite a bit, in case she accidently shocked and killed Maina. That would not be preferable in the slightest. "I don't want to kill anyone by accident." Hatsu added, as though to clarify her reason for reducing the voltage of electricity.
NOTES: FINALLY SOMETHING'S GETTING DONE

As Takuto reached out for the alcohol Mainia was about to give him, Hatsu impatiently came in and took it from them. Not that Takuto particularly minded, but judging from Mainia's cranky attitude, she might.
Quick and to the point, the fire was lit and Takuto was being handed a burning branch. "Count of three." He instructed sternly, not letting her do anything before its time. 'Let this not end in another accident.' He silently prayed to their goddess as he walked over to the invention and neared the flame with an arrow. "Ready?"
Takuto was fine with that amount of electricity, and the sparks flew as the fire burned on and the countdown commenced. "Three... Two... One..." Arrow lit, the other sparking; Takuto hurriedly pulled a lever on the contraption and off the arrows went, circling each other for a strange mix of lightning and fire. The smoke left a light streak in the air as the arrows hit their target, pretty much the dirt in the ditch they stood in. It exploded into a mass of colors, but marked if not the same spot, then next to each other. A success, finally.
"And that is how that should have gone yesterday." He partly smirked, satisfied with himself. Although it worked, all he was thinking about was the range, which needed adjustment and this and that. It wasn't perfect, but it was a well-made prototype. "Thanks for the help, you two."
