Although the others might not have noticed what specifically Zion was mumbling to himself, it was no surprise that Lumi would, given her sharpened sense of hearing made up for her lack of eyesight. The small bit of reassurance Lumi provided him soothed his worries of uselessness and instilled a bit more confidence to his voice.
"Yes, yes." Bobbing his head frantically up and down, he tightly gripped the man's hand and raised himself up from the base of the table, cracking a few bones as he straightened, then hunched back over some.
"Look after Lumi, yes. Look after Zion, too." He continued to nod to himself before scurrying over to Lumi and her physician.
As he did so, he peered up, past the wagons and over at the raided home. The very first of thebird children were starting to be brought up, the baker joining in the efforts as they arrived at the doorway. Paled, sickly bodies, most unable to stand or even crawl. Carried by both soldiers of the Grudges and townsfolk alike. Most hadn't seen the sun since they'd been brought down, and couldn't handle it, either.
"Wagons, keep covered. The light, it stings, sizzle, burn."
