A small, entertained smile curved the side of his mouth. Cain always spoke in such complex patterns, and he loved hearing it again after all this time- even if it confused the shit out of him as it did those long years ago.
"I seem to have returned in a ripe year then." He joked, "Left you to mature, and came back just in time to have some fun." Watching the coals, he thought back to what the term fun meant to him back then. Murderous raids, drugs, orgies, and bullying the ever-loving fuck out of the little clan below them. Part of him stung at the terrible reminder, while another part was alight with excitement.
Akihito held his hands out in front of him, watching how his fingers glowed in the dark. "This is a bit problematic, I'm afraid I won't be much use to you in stealthy situations."

Hardly able to keep himself from laughing, Cain sat up as he silently chuckled. Using up the last of his energy, laid himself down, only propping himself up by an elbow.
"Sergio is better suited; we'll work around it."
He waved the concern off, yet couldn't help but stare at the odd side-effect to the man's abilities.
"But mayhap there's something else to your glow we're not seeing, hm? For your other ability to be such a wonder, this one might likewise be."

"My glow." He repeated, smirking at himself. What a fairy... Pulling his robe's sleeves down in self-consciousness, he looked over at Cain.
"...I'm sorry I left you." The demon said, suddenly and quietly. "I made terrible mistakes. And I'm sorry."

Cain blinked in surprise, unsuspecting any sort of an apology. Not when Kirai refused to give any, and especially not after his brief conversation with the ghost of a leader. Slowly, he nodded his head and cast his eyes above, looking up into the vast darkness before them.
“There is no such thing as an easy forgiveness, nor a difficult apology to those deserving of one. But I cannot think of any higher or harsher punishment than what you’ve been through. Forgiveness shall come— I am simply happy to see you home again.”

Akihito nodded with a sorrowful understanding, looking away and watching the fire. He went silent, setting his hands down on his knees. The air felt heavy as shame darkened his face and hair fell around his eyes.

He allowed the silence to last in the air for a moment longer, his thoughts drifting as well as his mind. Exhaustion began to completely envelop him, but just as he started to nod off, he stood.
"Tomorrow, the slate is wiped clean." He mumbled to himself, convincing him of his own words. Those few minutes of silence processed the man's apology, removing his old self, decisions, and actions from the man beside him.
"When daybreak comes, know you are forgiven."
Giving the demon a light pat on the back, he headed off for his bed of hay without another word.
